ISAM was established by the late Russian/Israeli composer/pianist Josef Dorfman, his wife and pianist Lily Dorfman, composer Ofer Ben Amots and organist Hans Joachim Dumier, with a vision that the Academy would offer young talents an opportunity to gain an intense musical experience and flourish in the presence of musicians from countless multi-cultural backgrounds.
ISAM’s two-week course deepens musical skills and expands musical horizons. ISAM encourages a coming-together of musical minds. The hallmarks of the Academy's training program are daily individual lessons and numerous performance opportunities, culminating in a competition for the pianists, composers and organists judged by an international jury comprised of the faculty and invited guests. Prizes and scholarships are offered.
ISAM is limited to 12 pianists, 12 composers and 6 organists. The small number of participants, coupled with a faculty that shares all meals and events, creates a rare collegial atmosphere, through which a constant flow of stimulating exchanges, occur. Repertoire covered in the two-week course is up to each pianist, organist and composer, but should include a large classical sonata as well as a large romantic and contemporary work. Additionally, every year a mandatory work or composer is included. This will be forwarded to the participants upon receipt of their application form.
There is also an opportunity for those who wish to apply as a double entry for piano and composition. Acceptance is based on the applicant’s artistic potential and/or achievements, evaluated individually by the faculty. Entrants wishing to apply to ISAM, should fill in the application form (click here). All applicants will be notified as to acceptance no later than June 18.
